Generation Piñata, 2024

A celebration of my family and my Mexican heritage.

Piñatas are a Mexican symbol that originated during the colonial period. While they were once used as a tool to attract indigenous people to Christianity—each point representing one of the seven deadly sins, and breaking them symbolized the struggle against these sins—today, piñatas represent celebration and triumph.

With this series, I aimed to capture a snapshot of my family tree, and honor and celebrate everything we’ve been through to get where we are today. The journey continues with me, but si se pudo 💪
